Improve your website on mobile

Apr 14, 2020 | Website Speed

More than half of visits are abandoned if a mobile web page takes more than 3 seconds to load.

A recent Google study shows us that more than half of visits are abandoned if a mobile web page takes more than 3 seconds to load.
With people looking to their mobile devices more than ever, it’s important that your website is ready. Here are some tips to help make sure your mobile site is optimized for this mobile traffic:

1 – Compress and rezise images

Even the most elementary optimizations can help your site speed. Compressing and resizing images is a basic approach that some content management systems (CMS) can do automatically.
This also eliminates redundant data and unnecessary information, and can enable file size reduction by up to 80% — making your website noticeably faster.
There are a number of different websites that resize your photos for you, like TinyPNG.

2 – Use loading techniques

When a traveler lands on your website, they want to instantly see all the content within their view. We refer to everything the traveler sees before scrolling as “above the fold.”
Lazy loading is a technique that enables you to prioritize loading first-available images in a limited view — while off-screen images (images below-the-fold) are loaded when the user scrolls down.
Why should you lazy load images or videos rather than simply loading them regularly? Loading all of the images and videos on your entire page wastes data and slows down processing time.

3 – Prioritize visible content

Above-the-fold space is at a premium on mobile devices, making it crucial to feature only what’s most important to your website visitors. Reduce non-transactional elements or anything that can distract the viewer.
Try adding large, easy-to-tap buttons with call to actions, for example: “Book Now.”
